The Pictor system supports touch kiosk functionality, providing users with an intuitive and interactive platform to engage with digital content through direct touch, significantly raising standards of user experience and interaction.

Activating touch mode

To activate the interactive mode of the selected region:

  1. Open the Content view.
  2. In the menu at the bottom, click Settings
  3. On the General tab, select the Region type option: Interactive screen. View the Region settings.

The Region type setting applies to the selected region. Each region can have a different Region type setting.

Additional interactive screen menu

In touch mode, you can show an additional menu at the bottom or top of the screen to help users navigate through the content. This menu includes a button leading to the main menu and Next and Back buttons.

See how to enable the additional menu in the interactive screen section in the Region settings.

The interactive menu can be hidden on the selected slide. See the Interactive tab in the content editing window.

Interactive buttons

Each playlist element can have buttons defined that will appear on that element when it is displayed.

To set up an interactive slide button you need to:

  1. In the Content window, in the list of playlist items, select an item.
  2. In the bottom menu of the window, click Interactive.

You can also open the same window in the item edit window on the General tab by clicking the Interactive buttons button.

Types of buttons:

  • Button - a standard button shown above the content of the selected slide. The user selects the position of the button and the slide to be shown when the button is pressed.
  • Menu button - a special type of button added only to the Interactive Menu. The options for selecting the position of the button on the screen are blocked - the menu decides this itself. The user has control over the order of the buttons.
  • Next button - a special type of button leading to the next slide to be shown. If a slide is selected then the Interactive Screen Menu (at the bottom or top of the screen) will show the Next button leading to the selected slide.

Go to

Selection of the slide to be shown at the press of a button.

Title

The inscription that will be on the button.

Image

Alternatively, instead of text you can upload a graphic to be shown on the button. Please note that the image must be uploaded to the region's repository. Any image uploaded to the repository can be selected as the button image in this window.

Button position

Position on the slide where the button will be shown. Only applies to standard buttons. For others, the option is disabled. For simplicity, the alignment to one corner of the screen is selected and the spacing is counted to that corner.

Appearance - opens the Appearance settings window for the slide elements. If you wish, you can use it to set the individual appearance of the buttons and the rest of the slide.

You can change the default appearance of the buttons of the selected region. See the Interactive Buttons tab in the Appearance window.

Interactive menu

A slide used to show touch buttons. Most often used as the first slide of a playlist in touch kiosk mode. With it you can quickly add buttons leading to the desired content. You can extend the structure of the menu by adding further slides of the Interactive menu type, which will act as a sub-menu that is shown when the corresponding main menu option is clicked.

In the slide settings, you can choose how the buttons are arranged:

  • Table with 1 (2 ,3, 4) columns - the buttons are arranged sequentially occupying a specific number of columns.
  • Right/left column - the buttons are arranged in 1 column on the selected side of the screen. You can use an image that has graphic content on the other side as a background.

Touchscreen saver

If the region is in interactive screen mode, the selected slides can act as a screensaver. They will be shown during inactivity (no user action for a certain period of time).

To set the selected slide as an interactive screen saver, please:

  1. Select the slide in the list.
  2. Click the Edit button or double-click with the left mouse button on the slide.
  3. In the content editing window, switch to the Interactive tab.
  4. Select the interactive screen saver option.
  5. Confirm using the Ok button at the bottom of the screen.
